Community Guidelines

Hop is a small, curated community. These guidelines keep it warm, safe, and worth everyone's time.

Hop connects designers with more experienced designers for free mentorship. It works because both sides show up with good faith. Here's what we ask of everyone: mentees and mentors alike.

Be kind and respectful

Treat every person here the way you'd want a mentor to treat you on your worst day. No harassment, discrimination, or unsolicited pitching. Mentorship is a relationship, not a transaction.

Show up on time

When you book or accept a session, someone is counting on you. Join on time and come prepared.

The no-show policy

This applies symmetrically to mentors and mentees:

  • After every session, both people are asked a simple “Did this happen?” A missed session is a no-show.
  • We're strict about this: three no-shows pauses your account, whether you're a mentee or a mentor. You can see your own no-show count in your dashboard.
  • Life happens. If something went wrong, reach out and our team will take a look. The bar is simply: show up, or give notice.

Reschedule with notice

Need to move or cancel a session? Give at least 24 hours' notice. Changing plans inside 24 hours is logged as a late cancellation on your dashboard. Late cancellations don't pause your account on their own, but repeated ones are something our team may look into.

Keep your availability honest

Mentors: only offer time you can actually keep. You can cap your weekly availability and how many upcoming sessions you take on, so you never over-commit.

Mentorship is free: keep it that way

At launch, all mentorship on Hop is free. Don't use sessions to sell services, courses, or jobs. If that ever changes, we'll tell you clearly.

Questions or something feel off? Reach out to the Hop team and we'll help.
