How do I move from product designer to product manager?
The fastest path is inside your current company: take on the outcome, not just the interface, for one feature. Write the problem statement, define the metric, run the prioritization, and ship it. Then the PM title is a conversation about work you've already done, not a leap of faith for a hiring manager.
Designers make strong PMs because they already sit with users and engineers. What's usually missing is comfort with numbers and saying no. Pick up the metrics for your area and present them monthly; that habit changes how the team sees you.
Switching companies and titles at the same time is the hard version. If you can't move internally, look for PM roles at design-led companies where a design background is a plus, and bring a case study written in PM terms.
